The truth is that the root of these problems lie in the failures of government social policies, lack of educational and employment opportunities going back decades. This combined with stark examples of the wealth of the upper class contrasted with the utter poverty of the uneducated masses has led to the collapse of societal convention, rise of gang & street culture, the drug trade is rampant and violent crime is clearly out of control.
