The dude was just marketing fruit that was carried in a wood and metal basket looped around his shoulder and waste. He was walking on the sidewalk near an open-air market and some sort of municipal (trash?) truck went past him (supposedly not speeding or breaking any laws) and somehow the truck caught the basket and...voila.

I don't understand how the leg was ripped off. The metal on the basket? The wheel of the truck? The original story kept referencing the metal and wire aspect of the basket and how it was fitted to the man, but it never explicitly said how the amputation occurred.

I'll dig into this and find the original info. It was in English but a terrible translation.
