Tasers don’t work on jackets, and shooting weapons out of hands is either an anomaly or a movie. The reason why police are trained to shoot center-mass is because it’s the largest target.

Somebody with a knife can close a gap of 20 feet, and unless hydrostatic shock from a bullet severs your spinal cord, you’re still alive long enough to cause serious harm with a knife. This is in training documentation and is something overlooked constantly.

You shoot until the threat is down, and suicide by cop situations can always escalate when the perp becomes desperate and realizes that prison might be the outcome instead of death.
