At Least 31 Killed, 169 Injured in Suicide Bombing in Shia Mosque, Pakistan
Pakistan. At least 31 people were killed, with at least 169 others injured in a suicide bombing in a shia mosque. The attacker reportedly fired at security guards before detonating an explosive vest near the entrance/gates as worshippers gathered. This is the deadliest attack in Islamabad in over a decade and the worst in Pakistan since the 2023 Peshawar mosque blast. The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) claimed responsibility via a statement, targeting the Shia mosque specifically. Pakistani officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, condemned the attack, called for investigations, and expressed grief. The UN Secretary-General and others internationally condemned it as well. Hospitals declared emergencies, appealed for blood donations, and mourners gathered for burials on Saturday. |

There are people on this planet who have never once prayed to a deity and they are doing just fine, and here are others causing death and destruction for a figment of someones imagination.

To do that much damage with just a vest explosive is crazy. I'd love to know what type of explosive was used for that. That is some insane damage.

Re: At Least 31 Killed, 169 Injured in Suicide Bombing in Shia Mosque, Pakistan
Isis in the past used Triacetone Triperoxide aka TATP which is often called the mother of Satan due to its extreme instability and sensitivity to shock, friction, or heat. This homemade peroxide-based explosive is a signature choice for many ISIS-linked attacks like in Paris 2015, Brussels 2016 and various other blasts in the Middle East. It's easy to synthesize from common precursors like acetone (nail polish remover), hydrogen peroxide and strong acids but highly dangerous to handle. T TATP is frequently used as the main charge or initiator in vests because it's difficult to detect with some standard screening (no nitrogen content). Or Pentaerythritol Tetranitrate, aka PETN, which is a powerful military-grade high explosive, often mixed in plastic explosives like Semtex. It's brisant, producing a sharp shockwave and commonly used in vests for its high detonation velocity. Or Research Department Explosive, aka RDX which is another military high explosive, sometimes extracted from artillery shells or used in plastic forms like C-4. But maybe they used TNT or C-4/Semtex. |
