Ecuador. The death toll from the tragic traffic accident involving a public transport bus from the Santo Domingo Cooperative has risen to 10.

The bus abruptly changed its lane before overturning. Authorities classified the accident as a lane departure followed by a side rollover.

The initial report also mentions 16 people injured, including 7 minors.

Rescue teams worked under difficult conditions at the scene of the accident, which was reported at 2:00 p.m. Members of the Fire Departments arrived to assist in the serious emergency. They used specialized hydraulic tools to free several passengers trapped inside the wreckage of the bus.

The lack of cell phone service at the site hampered communication with the victims' families.

The operations included the arduous task of recovering the bodies of the ten victims. Teams worked to extract the deceased, who remained trapped under the wreckage of the vehicle.

The 16 injured were urgently transported to various medical facilities in the province of Manabí.
