I've been seeing on a lot of these videos, comments asking why cops don't use disabling limb shots. Well there are two good ways to disable a leg. You can shoot to shatter the hip which is effective however very unreliable. The bullet may shatter it or become lodged in it or simply deflect. The best way would be a shot to the center of the knee. This would completely disable the limb and slow down the person greatly or stop them completely. I want you to look down at your knee. It's a small target, the same size or smaller than your fist and usually hidden under clothing. Now imagine how much it moves when you're running full speed. It would be an extremely difficult place to hit and you've got a person charging you trying to kill you with a weapon or take your weapon. Those are the reasons police aren't trained to shoot limbs.

The trouble with a leg shot is it's a damn small target to hit when a person is moving. Plus, you may sever the femoral artery and the guy would bleed out before the ambulance arrives.

(Also to consider is the guy may lose his leg from the shot, then you've got a huge lawsuit on your hands)

If you do manage to hit his leg, it's no guarantee of actually stopping the guy. And with close distances, there is no time for a second try.
