Labourer Mangled Death After Car Rammed into Road Workers
India, In a fatal accident which took place on Thursday, two people died and three people were seriously injured. The accident took place in Mumbai area. Police said a Chevrolet Cruze (registration number withheld) was coming from Bandra-Worli Sea Link at a very high speed. A few workers were trying to fix a hoarding. A tempo driver had also parked his vehicle where the repair work was in progress. It was then that the high-speed car rammed into them. The impact of the fatal accident was so intense that one of the workers was pushed off the bridge near Bandra Police Chowki, killing him on the spot. His body was found in two pieces.  As the car drifted and toppled over bridge's railing, it crushed another worker who was working under the bridge. The four men on the bridge, including the tempo driver, suffered serious injuries. The occupants of the Chevrolet car were, however, saved by the airbags. They suffered injuries but nonetheless were quick to find an auto-rickshaw and flee the spot. The two deceased have been identified as Lala Bansi, 26, and Sandeep Gaud, 27. The injured worker has been identified as Mohammad Shakeel, 27, and has suffered fractures in legs and both hands. He is recuperating at the Bhabha Hospital. DCP Paramjit Dahiya from Zone 9 said, "We will be recording statements of eye witnesses and victims. As of now, we don't have any details on the person driving the car but we have received information that there were two people and they took an auto-rickshaw and left the spot. It might be the case that they went to a hospital but there's no information about them as of now." According to eyewitnesses at the spot, the car was driven by a female aged between 25 to 30 and was accompanied by a man. |
