I just noticed your Ruby Infraction Rectangle. You make good points from the opposite perspective than that of the owner of this site, and the only other mod I really see in this thread. If you talk like that they'll make you leave for sure, and then none of us will be able to read anything you write. That's one of the funniest things about Jesus/HSO. It's like he just absolutely can't refrain from using the N word sometimes--like he needs a doctor's note or something. He can't just not do the one, pretty small, thing that he isn't supposed to do, even though not doing it would lead to making me laugh so many more times. I hate it so much when he gets banned. I thought Jesus was supposed to make sacrifices so that others may feel pleasure, or be sinful, and what have you. |

Viking does some tutoring down in the Water Cooler sometimes. Monday through Thursdays, and every other Saturday. He taught me about that apostrophe rule once, but I never imagined it could, or would, apply to "lil" like that. It looks effing ruined your way. Viking is good with English. Yanni is a strong speller, corrects everyone, and yet sucks at everything, including spelling. Go figure. 'li'l.' reminds me of some early computer language. Like those early hard drives made up of rows and rows of indexed slot cards--pre magnetic tape reel days even. Yup, I can't blame him for that one. |

'Li'l' is the correct form, otherwise you cannot infer the contraction. Then, there is the glottal issue, too. Think of ''tis,' for example, which is short for 'it is,' but in this case, in reverse. It is the correct usage, though others may reluctantly pass, informally. That's the least of his sins. Worst of all, he was openly disrespectful to a moderator, and that was unacceptable. But anybody who doesn't capitalize 'Internet,' really pisses me off, LOL))))) |

P.S. The reason why I'm so persnickety with language, is because the more lackadaisical people get, the more we lose nuance and complexity—which detracts from the English language as a whole. Our language is a national treasure, and it must be preserved at all costs—lest it should be overrun and despoiled by hordes of simpletons and invading barbarians.
