Re: Kosovo Serbs in Car Get Shot Up by German KFOR Troops

Alright...I have been a silent lurker here for years, but this video brings back some baaaad memories of when I used to serve in that very batallion of the German army so I'd like to throw in my two cents...
What happened that day:
The two individuals in that car approached a KFOR barrier manned by German troops and suddenly opened fire (which "strangely" is not part of the video). There were civillians all over the place so we were kind of screwed...duck and cover behind the tank or open fire and risk killing innocent bystanders...the video clearly shows what option the commander thought made sense...ten seconds later we were in the middle of a gunfight...talk about a "peace" mission, which we had been told the KFOR deployment was meant to be...
As you can see from the guy firing his KH P8 sidearm, we were caught completely off guard...and as for "back to the shooting range, Fritz"...try to keep a steady aim with actual bullets being fired at you by an enemy aiming to kill...only the ones who served on a tour of duty will know what I mean...and besides...the German MG3 which you can hear in the video is not really the most accurate weapon in the world...but it has a proper rate of fire and its 7,62x50mm NATO caliber will get the job done...basically you squeeze off a burst, check where the bullets hit and then adjust your aim accordingly...forget about "aiming" ;)
And as for the reporters: they happened to be there by pure chance..they are the ones removing the weapons from the car while others are filming....they were not supposed to approach the vehicle, but they did...
The vehicle remained there for two or three days because we feared there was an IED inside meant to blow the barrier in a suicide mission...not fun...not fun at all...
