In this situation, I do believe they could have used a tranquilizer effectively, dose him at the start when he’s still across the room, then just wait.

I couldn't agree more. The guy was obviously suffering from a mental breakdown and there are many non lethal ways to deal with that.

Coz those things still take some time to start working and if you get the dose wrong can kill. Also don't know the medical history of the person, allergies etc.

First shooting by US police on here that is actually somewhat justified. Whole situation could have been prevented by not escalating in the first place though.
