Re: Kitchen Worker Killed on First Day at Work After Pressure Cooker Explodes
My kid, 16, just got his first job at fast food chain. I pray this is not an issue...

Re: Kitchen Worker Killed on First Day at Work After Pressure Cooker Explodes
This is so simple to prevent... Older pressure cookers used an aluminum safety valve, when the main valve gets clogged, the internal pressure increases and the "safety" one opens to release it, preventing explosion. But it can get clogged too, and the internal pin get stuck. That's probably what happened here... Newer ones have a rubber valve, because even if it gets clogged, the pressure will eject the valve before explosion. If you have an old style one, I suggest switching to the rubber model. |

See what happens when it takes you 25 seconds to don a pair of rubber gloves.

Re: Kitchen Worker Killed on First Day at Work After Pressure Cooker Explodes
That's EXACTLY what happened! They were cooking alphabet soup, and they put ALL the letters in her name in it. That was WAY more than normal, and that's why the cooker blew up. She also doesn't qualify for company life insurance, because she never completed her probationary period. |
