At least they mastered Engrish, you gotta giv'em that!
I suppose, man, LMAO, but it's Ogrish English alright, and in the worst of ways, as their nasty accent is the bane of mellifluous melodicity, to even the most calcified ears. HAHAHA.

Re: Karate Stunt Goes Wrong-Young Man Catches Fire and Succumbs

The old Indian movies are so bad they're funny, sort of like "The room" (You're tearing me apart, Lisa!)

So bad they're "cult" movies now!
This theater ("The Loft Cinema") had the whole cast there for one of their showings. They were all REALLY funny, and it was obvious they got along really well. They signed autographs, and sat for a stage interview were everyone could ask them questions. They were REALLY nice. Lisa is actually a brunette, and from Canada. The guy who played "Mark" has actually been there several times. This is well before the "Disaster Artist" film came out. The woman who played the mother of Lisa "It's cancer!" is REALLY hilarious. She tore the role apart, and had everyone laughing. She came across as a nasty old biddy in the film, but again, she was very likeable and funny.
I also had the chance to meet Angus Scrimm, the "Tall Man" from the Phantasm film series. He also came for a theater audience interview, and I have a pic of him with his hands around my neck, giving his famous glare. A lot of people don't know it, but he has a Grammy award for his writings on classical music. He also was incredibly intelligent, very funny, and a really nice person. He LOVED being the "Tall Man" and was always delighted to be recognized by fans. He signed a movie poster for me, in addition to the pictures I got.
The Loft is really a tremendous place.
One other nugget, is that apparently there were TWO versions of "Galaxy Quest". There is the version that was released in theaters, that is the G rated version, but apparently they ALSO shot another version, and this one has constant nudity and swearing throughout, and is even MORE hilarious than the one they finally released. But it would have been an "R" at the minimum, so they dropped the idea. I first heard this when chatting with some minor film celebrity several years ago, but just this year one of the managers at The Loft said that THEY had heard it from Alan Rickman when they were talking to him, so it must be out there somewhere. I would LOVE to see that film!.

That’s a lot to take in Willy... But sounds like YOU had a great experience. I’m still wallowing in misery and filth:(. Oh if they did make that version of Galaxy quest that means a lot of people lost a lot of money. Seems unlikely it was done and if it was it’s just a few scenes and not a complete project.

Well, at first I didn't believe it either. But Galaxy Quest was a huge hit, so they made a TON of money from it.
When I mentioned it to the program manager at the Loft, and asked him if he had ever heard of such a thing, he said "Yes, I have heard that rumor as well, but I think it IS real, because I heard it directly from Alan Rickman, when I was talking to him, and asked him about it!"

This particular individual has been the primary reason the Loft has grown into such a success.
He's the guy who arranges all the film programs, and he is the one who set up the shows with the cast of "The Room", and "Phantasm." He truly knows EVERYONE in Hollywood, but you would never know it, because he is one of those low-key individuals who never talk about it. He just goes and DOES stuff.
If you ever saw the movie "The Wrecking Crew" you should see it. He brought all of them for a show one night. (Minus one guy who died) I have a signed movie poster from them as well.

He got Roger Corman to show up for the showing of the film on Roger Corman's career.
He got Rita Moreno to show up for her film and introduce it and do a theater interview.

He got Janis Joplin's brother Mike to do a presentation. After the show, Mike answered a question I had about Janis having a motorcycle.
It is on the cover of the album, where she is sitting on the bike in a park, and there are dozens of people around, but no one is paying any attention to her, and she is just smoking a cigarette and smiling, and I asked if that was really HER bike, and he said: "No, she never owned a bike. She probably borrowed if from someone when her VW was broken down, which was all the time. She didn't even have a starter on the VW that worked, so she had to park on a hill to get it running again to get home." After she died, he drove her psychedelic Porsche all through his high school years. THAT must have been pretty cool.

Anyway, if you talked to this program director guy. you would never suspect that he has a bunch of stars phone numbers on his Rolodex. He's no BS artist, and you would never expect the people he has relationships with and who he knows well enough to call on the phone.

Angus Scrimm (Rory Guy) was the ONLY horror character who ever showed up in my dreams. I found the film Phantasm absolutely horrifying. My wife and I saw it at a drive-in in Tucson, and was one of the few times we went to a drive-in and didn't have sex. (Tucson used to have about 8 drive-in theaters, but now they are all gone) We left that movie shell-shocked.
When I heard he was going to be at the Loft, I didn't know if I should even go. The guy truly gave me the CREEPS. But when I went, and met him, and saw how wonderful he actually was, I never dreamed of him again. I would have taken my ex to see him, but she had died in 2006. She would have loved meeting him. No other horror figure ever bothered either of us. No character before or since. I have no idea why he had that effect on us.

Now get a load of this, freaking unbelievable.

On a side note:
About a couple of years ago I was watching videos on one particular advanced mathematics theme and found out YouTube only had Indian mathematicians speaking about it in their horrible "Engrish", to say the least they were "unwarchable" for me, I'd rather watch a 24 hour video of fingernails scratching the surface of a blackboard, way more bearable, waaaaaaaaaay more bearable!

Oh man, a photo of yourself being choked by the "Tall man" is beyond cool!
By far one of my all time favorite movie characters.

Wish you could post the picture (with your face blurred of course)

It is a regular photo, that I had digitally developed at the local Walgreens. If I ever figure out a way to post a pic, I will try and put that one up. I have it in a movie poster frame with the movie poster for Phantasm, and he signed it "You play a good game, Bill!" and his signature.
If you watch the original "Phantasm" there is a scene in town where Scrimm is walking by an ice cream truck, and the vapors are wafting around from the dry ice they used. He kind of pauses, sniffs the air, and makes a "Yummy" movement with his face, as if he was smelling a plate of chocolate chip cookies. He said he just added that in, and he really had no basis for it, as it doesn't really affect the "Tall Man", but he felt there should be something in there to add a "weird" factor to him just walking down the street. It sure worked!

I think most Indians speak EXCELLENT English. Their accent may seem funny to some people, but MY accent I am sure is hilarious to many foreigners, so it's no big deal. As far as Apu on the Simpsons, remember that Homer survives blowing up a nuclear power plant and still just wants his donuts, which I find hilarious. I have never seen Apu portrayed as stupid or anything, so I don't think it is a problem. He's certainly smarter than Homer, Ned Flanders, Moe, or any of the other characters on the series.
