actually, school teaches student to walk on the other side of the road so youll see whats coming towards you. some just plains ignore that. and that happens. you never see what hits you.

your car vs other car on the road= you keep to the right side, you vs vehicles on the road = you keep to the left side. thats how its supposed to be.

usual cases like these over here, the driver dont get off the vehicle. if he does and someone notices him out of the chaos, he'll be mobbed and practically dead by the time they turn him over to the police. other cases, they run like crazy to the nearest police if they cant take their vehicle with them as well... but in most cases, the driver runs and dont stop running.

and these are the vehicles that usually are driven by self learned drivers. usually got their license by forgery or bribery and never really knows how to drive. they're the menaces in our roads. about 90% of these dont even know the meaning of roadsigns and some dont even know how to read or write. so if ever you come over, i suggest, you hire a privately owned vehicle. jeepney and buses are fun but really dangerous. buses are more or less the same. taxi are half dangerous for robbery and hold ups no matter what company theyre from. walking around is not advisable if youre new and unescorted. better find someone in your country that knows someone here that have their own vehicles and rent them via usage basis not in full stay rental. meaning you only pay them when you call them for a trip and pay them for that trip alone. a healthy tip will of course give them more diligence to be there quick when you call them.

Most of these passenger Jeepneys are in absolute shyte condition, bald tires, canvas showing through, oil leaks, barely running. I was in Manila yesterday traffic is fuckin' abysmal on any day of the week, and these fuckin' Jeepneys are the main case. They drive like fucktards and stop wherever and whenever they want to, regardless of traffic.

I always hire a car and driver if I need to go to Manila. Like you say, 90% of drivers have never taken a driving lesson in their life.
