Another reason not to show the full beheading is that it emphasises the butchery, weakening the political message. Also it makes the victim appear brave and elicits sympathy. It makes the executioner appear cruel and in most cases clumsy.
The video editing is maximised for its purpose which is to intimidate. But IS really underestimates the West. This kind of brutality just strengthens the resolve of educated people.
I thought the journalist was extremely tough and his family and nation have a lot to be proud of.
