For the first time in the history of this site we were threatened with shutdown over a piece of content. They actually pulled the plug on the server for 4 days due to this video.

Apparently governments do not want this video seen, and we were forced to remove it under threat of shutdown.

So please do not upload this video to the site, your account will be banned. This is not something I want to do, this is something I'm being forced to do.

Journalist James Foley, who was reportedly kidnapped in Syria in 2012, has been beheaded, a graphic video released by supposed Islamic State militants purports to show. The video appears to show Foley kneeling beside a man dressed in all black. It begins with a speech by President Obama announcing the U.S. military would begin targeted airstrikes against the Islamic State, the group that has declared a caliphate across parts of Syria and Iraq also known as ISIS, to stop its advance on Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan.

The video switches to a black screen with white writing that reads: "A Message to America." Foley then begins to recite a message, presumably written for him by ISIS, about his "real killer" -- America. At the end of the video, the executioner begins sawing at Foley's neck with a knife. After a blackout, the last image appears to show Foley's head, detached, lying on top of his body.

Youtube removed the video shortly after it was posted.

His death could not be confirmed independently.

Foley was a freelance journalist, originally from New Hampshire, who wrote for media outlets including Global Post.

Trying to locate video but thanks for the post. If i find it I will post it. I feel so sorry for his family. They said the video looks like it was taken somewhere in North Africa. So it looks like they moved him. Here is a still from that video.

Thank you....pretty powerful video, he shows no fear. I can't imagine the torment his family have been through the past 2 years and to have it end like this.

That guy that does the the beheading is definitely British. I hope they step up there bombing attacks on these idiots now.

Looks like another American or European. I don't know. I will try to find out. This guy was imprisoned in Libya in 2011. Wow! I guess he really love his job to be going to such dangerous places. It seems like He was much beloved and respected by all his peers.

Steven Sotloff: Missing American Steven Joel Sotloff Threatened by ISIS, Report Claims; Worked for TIME Magazine
Steven Sotloff was apparently threatened by the the Islamic State, or ISIS, who said President Obama’s next steps are critical.

Zaid Benjamin, the Washington correspondent for Raido Sawa, tweeted that Sotloff’s life is at stake. “#ISIS say the life of Steven Joel Sotloff depends on Obama’s next decision,” he wrote, with a caption of a video that was released by ISIS.

It came after James Foley, an American photojournalist, was reportedly beheaded by ISIS, which was captured on video.

Sotloff has worked for TIME, the National Interest, and Media Line, according to The Wire.

He apparently went missing in mid-2013. He last tweeted Aug. 3, 2013.

According to The Wire, he went missing near Aleppo, Syria, on Aug. 4, and his family said they were aware of the situation but did not want to publicize the information. He was being held in Raqqa.

A photo purporting to be of Sotloff, who had a shaved head and was wearing an orange shirt, accompanied Benjamin’s ISIS tweet.

After Foley was apparently beheaded, the White House issued a statement on the matter, attributed to NSC spokesperson Caitlin Hayden.

“We have seen a video that purports to be the murder of US citizen James Foley by ISIL. The intelligence community is working as quickly as possible to determine its authenticity. If genuine, we are appalled by the brutal murder of an innocent American journalist and we express our deepest condolences to his family and friends. We will provide more information when it is available,” the statement reads.
