Actually I was referring to the upper jaw as in the upper part of the mandible, not as you mistakenly believe the maxilla containing the upper row of teeth. The point I was making is the lower mandible isn’t moving on the pivot as normal so the upper mandible has been immobilised and appears as fixed as the rest of the skull / maxilla.
If I’m guilty of anything it was over simplifying in attempt not to confuse people like your good self but appear to have done so any way - how can any fucking adult not see this?

On page five of this thread I ask someone called Specialsman more about the "LaForte" fracture that he mentioned--when referring to this injury. I started looking into it, we discussed, I asked some more questions. It's all pretty good.
What I learned was that a La Forte fracture is a split into the skull from the front anywhere below the eye sockets and above the teeth (around the nose). There are different degrees. What was never made too clear to me though was if whether the split is into, or remains below, the skull cup that the brain sits in (brain case).

Because what I still wonder is: If maybe the chop stayed below the red line, and in front of the yellow line (those blood vessel holes), if it could be pretty survivable? And then I also wonder, if there is any way to reconnect the the blood flow to and from the brain in time to save someone if the chop went passed the yellow line, but stayed in front of the blue line (brain stem)?

It would be very cool if anyone knows.
