been told buy a serving solder that there are a lot of soviet snipers in Iraq and Afghan shooting our boys, sort of revenge for arming the mujaheddin in the 1980s

I remember studying these videos before my first deployment to Ramadi and subsequently Fallujah. Constantly telling myself as the only medic of a group of 30 that I wouldn't allow pot shots like that... Needless to say it didn't help and wearing a big fucking medic bag made me a easy target. Mind you being shot in the plate is not really being shot.

Typically before you go out on patrol, a modified med bag can be made. A small condensed medbag that only required the minimal gear you need in the field. I would also spreadload my I.V. bags to my Marines to lighten the load. The great thing about MOLLE gear is you can modify your gear mission specific. If you were on independent duty (no physician), then I could understand the need to hump the whole bag with you.. but then again, I would put that big ass "UNIT ONE" (a field Hospital Corpsmans bag) in the Humvee.. They say, if you cant truck it, fuck it!!!! |
