FINALLY......they used a sharp knife. Holy shit that was sharp too, that thing sliced through homeboys jacket during the throat slice. clean cuts too.

I'm pretty sure with the amount of blood coming out of his mouth that, "inhaling all the blood he could", wasn't really an 'option'. lol. Looked like it happened no matter what. Internal bleeding that much, even if he wanted to breath in normally, I don't think it'd be possible, each breath would just be filled with blood anyways. The way it kept spewing out of him kinda shows that too, when he tries to exhale, more blood was shot out of his mouth, as it filled his lungs.
