The concrete footing pretty much took the water as hard as the cement situation out. Falling from the height of the bridge onto concrete, he had to feel that even for a nano second.  |

And yet another question I have... If, indeed, he felt that universe trembling agony but DIDN'T realise he'd hit the base of the bridge, was there the most fleeting of moments where he thought, "Holy fuck, water really is like concrete at this speed..." Before lights out...

He didn’t feel anything physical after he smacked the deck. To feel anything take’s consciousness and his lights went out on impact. He may not have died until after he was in the water but I would seriously doubt he ever regained consciousness after that sudden stop at the bottom.
