This happened on Fernandez Crespo y Colonia Street in Montevideo, Uruguay, and was the result of a car crash. The victim is a young woman (female driver). She lost control of her Suzuki and crashed into the back of a Hamburger snack truck. The metal went through the woman's face, missing vital brain matter, but severely disfiguring her for life. They managed to save her left eye and remove the piece of metal. She apparently survived the crash but no word on her current condition.
Glad to hear she made it.

Uruguay is actually quite civilised, if your definition of "third-world" is rampant poverty, you'd be wrong. I'd certainly rather live there than the vast majority of shit hole towns in the US...
