SAMARINDA – A traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a ten-wheeled vehicle occurred on Jalan Ringroad 2 in the Lok Bahu Village, Sungai Kunjang District, Samarinda City, on Tuesday (April 14, 2026) at around 12:30 p.m. WITA (Central Indonesian Time).

The incident resulted in the deaths of two women at the scene. The tragic incident was confirmed by Patrol Observer Officer (Pamapta) I of the Samarinda City Police, Mat Bahri. He stated that the accident involved two vehicles with significantly different sizes, resulting in fatalities for the victims.

Mother and daughter. The victim was identified as Siti N (51). She was the principal of the Early Childhood Education School in Lempake. At the time of the accident, she was riding with her daughter, Vika P.W, 25, a physiotherapist at the Indonesian Child Protection Community Empowerment Program.

The motorcycle allegedly attempted to overtake another vehicle by taking the right lane. The container driver, Asdin P, stated that he had attempted to avoid the collision by honking his horn.

The motorcyclist had just overtaken a car and turned right quite quickly. But the closer he got, the harder he braked, he said.

He also explained that the road conditions at the time made it impossible to speed due to parked vehicles near the intersection.

I honked the horn from above, but it still hit the front of my car, causing the motorcycle to go under, he said.

Two years ago the father/husband passed away.
