Indian Tea Stall Owner Commits Self-Immolation Outside Police Station
Nizamabad, Telangana, India A 55-year-old man, Sudhakar, died at a private hospital, a day after setting himself on fire outside a police station. Sudhakar entered the police station premises carrying a bottle of petrol and a matchbox. He then poured petrol on himself and set himself alight. Sudhakar was apparently upset over being threatened by two local reporters. Apparently, the reporters had been sent by a grocery store owner, who was unhappy that Sudhakar had stopped coming to his shop. Furthermore, there was also a petty case against Sudhakar for keeping his tea stall open outside of permitted hours, with Sudhakar apparently feeling that he was being singled out, with other shops not being fined despite also illicitly staying open. |

Seems counterintuitive to the supposed calming effects of sipping a nice cup of tea! |
