It’s the tiny foam platform that killed her. She rolled her ankles and was completely out of position when she stepped down. Also, what was supposed to happen after she completed the lift? She was going to step back up on the tiny platform to re-rack? With 275kgs on her back?!? They really didn’t think that one, through.  Also the spotter should have been anchoring her properly on her sides, supporting her under her arms. At that weight she also should have had a spotter on each side of the bar. Just all around fail. |

You're always supposed to wear the belt, and it does help, especially when you start getting up there in weight. -However- I think it's ironic that if she wasn't wearing the belt she might have survived that incident. When she fell, the belt kept her back straight and she was essentially pinned for a moment with all the weight on her neck. There was a chance if she didn't have the belt on she might have folded forward. Probably would have farted and shitted everything in her belly out but might have survived it. Sad really. Whoever thought it was a great idea to put a small mound of uneven floor mats under her should be charged. Smh
