Indian Murderer-Turned-Politician Beaten and Stabbed to Death
Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India Kannan, a member of the regional Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam political party (the current ruling party in Tamil Nadu), was beaten and stabbed to death by a group. A case has been registered and five people - Barani, Rakesh, Naresh, Manikandan and Hariharan, all aged 20 - have been arrested in connection with the murder. According to police, Kannan was involved in the car rental business and had an extensive criminal record. The investigation revealed that Kannan and his associates had allegedly murdered Barani's paternal uncle, Siva, in 2009. Barani's father, Velu, was also murdered in 2014 (or 2016, sources differ). Police suspect the killing of Kannan was carried out in revenge for the earlier murders. |
