A 28-year-old hostel warden at a residential school, Devaraj, died after falling into a fire pit during a fire-walking ritual. Devaraj was walking across the fire pit while holding a torch in one hand and a can of oil in the other when he lost his balance and fell.

He sustained critical burns, and despite being rushed to hospital, he did not respond to treatment and died the following morning.

The fire-walking ritual was part of Muharram celebrations, marking the first month of the Islamic calendar.

They were PROBABLY just checking to see if he was a WITCH! You can either throw them in a fire and see if they burn, or build a bridge out of them. There aren't too many OTHER scientifically valid ways to determine this.
