Indian Man Commits Self-Immolation at Gas Station
A 43-year-old man, S., killed himself by pouring gasoline over him at a gas station in Thrissur, Kerala state, before setting himself alight. The fire was extinguished before it could spread and cause a potential disaster, but S. died in hospital of his burns the following morning. It was reported that his estranged wife was working at the gas station. |

Bystanders had the correct idea but it took them 20 seconds to use the extinguishers after they were unlimbered. In the USA you pull a safety pin and squeeze a handle. When people are sprouting flames you gots ta hustle... |

I'd never do something this stupid, but if I were to light myself on fire, I damn sure wouldn't do it anywhere near a fire extinguisher. I'd want to die on the spot instead of lying around for a day or so suffering.
