Elephants are extremely smart, some say as smart as humans which I believe and this video proves it. This elephant knew exactly how to make this dude suffer as much as possible

As a former zookeeper, I can tell you that this perfectly illustrates the problem with anthropomorphizing animals (I think that's a word). I.e., I'll be nice to it, therefore it'll be nice to me. Nope. This elephant killed him because it may not have liked the part in his hair that day, or the elephant had a headache, or it didn't get its hay on time and this man was a convenient target for its wrath. My motto is, if it can kill you, it will kill you, so don't give it a chance. It's why American zoos are almost all protected contact with elephants now (there's always bars or electric fencing between you and them).

1. That initial take down was perfect--both in terms of technique and timing.

2. They were very methodical in their approach to transforming a human into a throw rug. Very precise and deliberate in how they applied pressure. Just about every part of the skeleton was pulverized, yet the body remained intact (didn't burst). That took foresight.

3. Finally, there was that "shake & drop" test to verify that they had accomplished their objective.

Those actions reflect very purposeful, goal-directed behavior--not an instinctual response.

I must admit that I'm morbidly impressed.
