PATNA: A minor girl was injured after she was allegedly shot at by a jilted lover in Sipara
area of Patna on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Indirapuri locality under Beur police station area, when a
class IX student was returning home after attending her coaching classes.
At a distance of about 200 meters from the coaching, when she turned towards the
street from the main road, a young man appeared before her on the corner.
She was stalked by the youth, who was wearing cap on his head and a mask was put on
his face. The accused pulled out a gun from the bag and shot at her from behind.
A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. It was seen that the youth was
walking ahead of the girl and stopped near an SUV. The girl walked past him towards
the street. The youth followed her few paces and pulled the trigger of the loaded gun.
The bullet grazed her neck and she fell there while the accused ran away from the
crime scene. According to police, the shooter crossed the road on foot and fled towards
Jayprakash Nagar in Jakkanpur.
Hearing the gun shot, the locals gathered near the spot and informed the police. She
was immediately taken to the nearby hospital. Presently, she is undergoing treatment
at a private hospital and her condition is said to be critical. The injured girl was
identified as 15-year-old Kajal Kumari, daughter of Tej Sahu, a vegetable seller.
SHO Atulesh Kumar told this newspaper on Thursday that the accused has been
identified and he is known to the victim.
"The police have been investigating the incident and raids are going to nab the
accused. In the preliminary investigation, it appears that the incident took place
because of love affair. The police will record the statement of the victim when she will
be in a condition to talk." he said.
