I think you are mixing Buddhism/ Hinduism with Islam here. Suicide in Islam is haram and things like meditation, spirituality ect are generally prohibited. You get more brownie points if you Kill a non Muslim than killing yourself unnecessarily is the idea behind I am guessing .

I honestly think they think it’s not going to hurt. They probably only think of it in terms of spiritual purification. This goes beyond any ideas he has been taught as a Muslim. Anyone in this state of mind has probably already lost a grip on reality. Horrifying.
