Circle Officer (CO) Arvind Chaurasia said that the body was found in the drain outside Lakhipura street number 28 under Lisadi Gate police station area.

"It appears that the woman was murdered by some of her acquaintances and to hide her identity, her head was beheaded," he said. Efforts are on to trace the head to ascertain his identity.

He said that the field unit of the police has started work and CCTV camera footage of the adjoining areas are also being scanned. The forensic team has collected evidence after conducting investigation at the spot.

"Investigation is on and efforts are on to resolve the matter," the official said.
