CHICAGO, (May 10, 2024) — A 24-year-old father of two was murdered during a robbery as he headed to work Friday morning on the Northwest Side. Now, Chicago police are looking for the killer and at least one accomplice in connection with the slaying, which was recorded by a residential surveillance camera. The offenders may also be responsible for carjacking a woman in Portage Park earlier Friday, according to a source familiar with the investigation.

At about 7 a.m., the victim was walking in the 3900 block of North Pittsburgh when a lone gunman confronted him at the mouth of an alley. In the video, the victim and robber are initially seen behind a small tree. They move quickly into view, and a single shot is heard. The victim immediately bends over and moves through the front gate, screaming in pain as he collapses to the ground with a gunshot wound to his chest.

“Gimme that fuckin’ money! Roll over!” the gunman orders, still brandishing the firearm. He soon runs away as the victim cries for help.

As the robber runs off camera to the right, a car rolls out of the alley where the robber and victim first crossed paths. A source familiar with the case said they believe that the car may be the robber’s getaway vehicle. Chicago police recovered the car on Friday near State and Erie in River North, the source said.

Why do they believe the car has a connection to the robbery and murder? Because the vehicle and a recently carjacked SUV were seen traveling together shortly before the shooting by a suburban police department’s license plate readers.

That carjacking occurred in the 5000 block of West Addison around 4:34 a.m. A woman told police that a man displayed a gun and took her purse, phone, and GMC Terrain, a CPD report said. The last ping from Terrain’s GPS was in the 4200 block of North Harlem, relatively close to the murder scene, about 20 minutes before the shooting.

So far, CPD has not announced any arrests. The victim has not been publicly identified.

UPDATE: Zet Rodriguez, a Chicago crisis counselor and proud father of a baby girl, had big plans for Mother’s Day. The 24-year-old planned to propose to his partner.

In Chicago a out 8-10 years ago an 80ish year old veteran was knocked out by two highly pigmented persons and left for dead over $3! The man didn't do a thing to these people yet his life meant nothing to them. He too was highly pigmented and was shocked someone could do that to another living soul. Those people, who committed that heinous act of cowardness should spend 30 years in jail and every news source and newspaper should rejoice that another evil person is off the street! The time has come that the District Attorney's need to stand up for the victims of crime instead of letting criminals run free! This world is living in Bizzaro World right now thanks to George Soros whom has lost his mind and literally believes he is a god.
