Worker was using a thermal lance, basically a metal rod on fire fed with oxygen. Thermal lances are used for things like steel bridge demolition, and by thieves for getting into safes and vaults. They burn around 8000F or so IIRC. Here is a cool movie, "Thief" with James Caan as a jewelry thief. If you forward to 50 seconds you can see him using a thermal lance to melt a door on a diamond vault: Here's another clip from Thief showing how to light a thermal lance: Great movie, Robert Prosky threatens to have Caan's wife forced into prostitution and be fucked in the ass by (blacks) and PUERTO RICANS, then ground into hamburger and fed to an unsuspecting public: Caan's wife is Tuesday Weld, who turned down the role of Lolita in Stanley Kubrick's 60's version, so you know James Caan is going to get violent with Prosky, and he sure does! |
