Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
Not the wisest of words in that situation. But they assumed nothing would happen because they're too high on virtue endorphins and therefore immune to consequence. I still don't think she needed to be shot. That was a massive overreaction. They should have let her go and then arrested her later for dangerous driving. But those idiots put themselves in that position, poked the bear, then tried to swing a fist at the bear. It's all so stupid and unnecessary. What a time to be alive. |

Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
Companies have to hire workers from the legal immigrants (green card holders) pond. McDonalds only hires legal immigrants. Maybe some franchise that sometimes hire an illegal because of more profit and working longer hours etc. No Government lets in illegal immigrants nor the business they work in are profoundly left or right. Actually the Obama administration deported the most illegals during his term. They can better focus on criminal groups that organize these trips for immigrants to the promised land as they profit the most. Same goes for the African to Europe immigration wave. Washington DC has the highest number of homeless people AND families altough it's declining. Local and federal policies play a role also. D.C. attracts homeless individuals from surrounding states due to relatively better (though still inadequate) services, shelters and less hostile treatment compared to areas with aggressive anti-homeless laws. Programs like one-way bus tickets from other jurisdictions funnel people to D.C. Lack of affordable housing and high cost of living plus a significant portion of chronic homelessness involves untreated mental illness and addiction. So it's harder for them to maintain housing or access services. When there's a shortage of houses (goes for every city in the world actually) prices go up and more wealthy people buy those houses displacing lower-income residents in poorer parts of the city and can get homeless. |

Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
Ice vehicles were not blocked, at the beginning of the longest video at the back left corner of her car, you can see she is waving people around her and a car is able to easily pass in front of her car. Also, last I checked, peaceful activism like blocking ways isn’t a capital offence. People can block areas, so even if she was doing that immediately pulling out guns on her is a crazy escalation. Notice how the government immediately called her a terrorist, when it seems like she was just your run of the mill Mom who does a touch of activism every once in a while. Activism is not terrorism, and the fact that our government is equating the two is actually really terrifying. Why would you blame her at all for being a peaceful activist? She was there, therefore she’s to blame for her death? What an irrational point of view. Your bar is so low for letting officers walk all over people terrorist people and kill them. We don’t fully know if she was an activist or not, but either way she’s dead, and either way it doesn’t matter if she was an activist or just a mom or whatever. They had no reason to immediately start getting out of their vehicle pulling at her door handle, and having their hands right on their guns. People should be able to protest ice, make noise, be in the way, and not be in danger. That is what normal governments are supposed to act like. |

Fafo var is pretty low to you people, huh? What kind of protest is allowed in your book? Cause it seems like no protest whatsoever, and you just want us to all be a bunch of boot liquors let the government march all over us. “Tread on me harder, daddy.” “Comply or die!” Spineless wretch |

Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
Most companies that pay minimum wage offer health insurance at astronomical rates. I'd rather see more money be put into the Healthcare crisis than the immigration crisis. Like for instance, here in TN minimum wage has not increased in nearly 20 years. Legal citizens make that here as well with zero Healthcare options that are affordable. We don't have many workers rights either. You can legally fire someone with no reason given and still get out of paying them unemployment or severance pay. My boss could walk through the door tomorrow and say I don't like that you wear purple, you're fired. And I'm sol to just quickly gain new employment. That's how things are here for a legal citizen....I highly doubt it would be any different for an immigrant. Renters protection? Doesn't exist much in my state either. Squatters rights exist but only if you've (at minimum) paid taxes towards the property for 7 years. |

Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
I wholeheartedly disagree with the very premise of your post. Purposely blocking or obstructing federal agents isn't a form of "peaceful protest". It's a form of being a vigilante and an example of civilians taking matters into their own hands in the streets on the ground. Instead of fighting something they disagree with in a courtroom setting or at the ballot box. It's like if I try to go get in the way of law enforcement detaining or arresting someone, I'm not a protestor at that point, I'm an activist and willing participant in obstruction and can be arrested and detained for that. They were able to be detained for their obstruction. However, I think killing her was excessive. |

Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
The kinds of protests that "are allowed" in my opinion are the kind where the protesters are not psychically interfering with federal agents, but standing safely off to the side yelling and holding signs voicing their disdain. Anything more than that is an escalation that shouldn't be happening. Also, ANY protest that is not on a sidewalk but instead on a street or other space with moving vehicles needs to have a permit from city officials to be there. That's the law. Anything else is supporting total anarchy IMO. I don't want to live in a place where civilians can take it upon themselves to psychically obstruct government agents or law enforcement simply because they don't agree with the way an election turned out, the way a policy is being enacted or because their social media platform of choice convinced them that all Republicans are fascist Nazis. I also don't want to live in a complete police state either where ppl get shot for overreacting. But IMO they had the right to detain them for obstruction in this case. They should have fought it in court instead of trying to flee. |

Re: ICE Agent Shoots and Kills Woman in Minneapolis
I just noticed in the last video: the mouthy woman with the phone yelled at the woman to start moving ("Drive <name>, DRIVE, DRIVE!"), which of course spooked the agents. Idiots, all of them.
