He didn't have to die. The cop shot him because he was pissed off at being attacked. I can't say as I blame him, but he had won the fight before he shot him.

I'm from Huntington Beach & I'm quite familiar with the 7-11 this shooting occurred outside of. The young man was a veteran of the U.S. Navy & had been paroled from prison just a week prior. He was also the only suspect in the death of an 80-year-old man whose badly beaten body was found outside his home just 3 days before this happened.

It was determined in January of 2018 that Officer E.E. was justified in shooting D.T. and no charges will be filed against him, nor will there be any disciplinary action taken.

I'm glad the 2nd video surfaced (the one from inside the automobile) because it shows more, with regard to what took place, and proves that this was a justifiable shooting & not the case of an overly-aggressive, trigger-happy police officer.

Watching video one I thought the cop used excessive force and went wild on, what appeared to be, and unarmed the guy for no reason. Sure he went for the cops gun, but clearly when the cop got up and made distance the cop was in control. BUT, from video two, when you're fucking offensively going after a cop, your going to get your ticket punched. After a LENGTHY ground battle where the cop couldn't subdue the guy, likely hyped up on drugs. I believe the shooting was justified. Six rounds and the guy is like a bull - (stomping his foot as if he's still going to fight) still aggressive. Ok then, have a seventh.

I don't know. He was a person. He should only be killed if he is an immediate threat to human life. He wasn't when he was shot. Not as bad as that same county's police murder of Kelly Thomas, but I think it could have be handled better.

He murdered an 80-year-old man just 3 days before this incident.
