Re: Hot Air Balloon Catches Fire
The deceased were a 39-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man. The minor suffered first- and second-degree burns on her face and extremities and a fractured right humerus, the bulletin added, without specifying whether more people were on board. According to the media report, a possible fuel leak in one of the tanks caused the fire in the hot air balloon passenger cabin. As the cabin was on fire, the young daughter decided to jump, while her mother stayed longer in the balloon basket and when it started to burn, she throws herself into the void and loses her life falling. Meanwhile the father was on board the whole time until the balloon and basket were completely burned along with his body, losing life. Crash Balloon does not belong to Teotihuacan Hot Balloon Federation. The Federation of Aerostatic Balloon in Teotihuacán (Fegat) reported that the balloon that crashed this Saturday morning near the Pyramid of the Sun is not part of the organization. "Neither the company, nor the aircraft that have been affected by this fatal accident ARE NOT PART OF THE FLIGHT TEAMS OF THE PERMISSIONARY WE CONFORM THE FEGAT." In a statement, he explained that the Federation is made up of eight companies operating within the legal and applicable framework of the Federal Civil Aviation Agency, as well as those issued by local and state authorities. The Fegat urged the authorities to act effectively in order to cancel the operations of those companies that, unfortunately, operate outside the legal framework and sometimes clandestinely, affecting the safety of all those we operate in the vicinity of Teotihuacán. This is a call to the competent authorities to control the excessive and irregular growth of the activity, verifying that balloon flights are conducted as established by applicable standards”. |

Re: Hot Air Balloon Catches Fire
That was quick thinking from the daughter or maybe it was just the sheer pain that caused her to jump. Hope she gets counseling for the PTSD she will have from this.

Re: Hot Air Balloon Catches Fire
You either do Damage Control or bail out... Typically no one onboard has a chute on.. So then you die if DC failed and no chute |
