Re: Hong Kong Van and Taxi On A Rainy Day Today
News A fatal traffic accident occurred on Tsing Sha Highway. A van was traveling along Tsing Sha Highway towards Tsim Sha Tsui last night. When it reached a bend opposite Hai Le Estate in Cheung Sha Wan, it slipped out of control and collided with a moving taxi. The taxi kept rolling in the road after the accident. The taxi rolled over five times. The taxi driver and van driver were slightly *injured* and sent to hospital. Rescue workers arrived at the scene and checked the two man and woman who were thrown out of the taxi. They were pronounced *dead* from their injuries at the scene. It was initially confirmed that the male passenger, 38, was surnamed Zhang and the female passenger, 35, was surnamed Wong. One of the victim, Zhang, an off-duty firefighter affiliated with the Kwun Tong Fire Station, married in October last year and was going to Thailand with his wife for his long awaited *honeymoon* today. Not wearing seatbelt is suspected to the cause of both deaths. |

Re: Hong Kong Van and Taxi On A Rainy Day Today
It looks like the highway is wet, but no puddles to hydroplane on, that I can see. So, possibly the van had very bald tires which slid around on the wet bend. Or, the van had really old tires that still had tread left, but the old rubber became hard like plastic and slid out on the wet bend. Just a theory. Very sad ending whatever the underlying cause was. |
