Ecuador. On Monday afternoon, a young man identified as A. M., approximately 23 years old, was shot and killed at the intersection of El Oro and Panamá street, a busy area located a few blocks from schools.

The victim was on the street corner on his bike when he was intercepted by a hitman. The attacker opened fire repeatedly and then fled in an unknown direction, leaving the young man lying on the road with multiple gunshot wounds.

Hours after the attack, authorities confirmed the arrest of two suspects allegedly linked to the violent act. Both were placed in the custody of the appropriate authorities while the investigation into the circumstances of the murder continues.

At least 10 people died by violence in the Province of Esmeraldas in 5 days.
