Just a guess, but by the amount of continuous bleeding I'm going to guess that his heart is still beating. Definitely possible as long as the brain stem is intact.

My Dad told me a story about one time he and his brother when they were young went into a junkyard to find windows for their old cars, when they were picking up a broken window from one car to look under it they found a big chunk of dried up human flesh with blonde hair hanging from it. I was a young teen when he told me this so the story and image will stick with me for life!
