Helicopter Crash in India Killing 5 Female Tourists and Pilot
Six people died, including five female tourists and the pilot. The victims were: Kala Soni (61, Mumbai) Vijaya Reddy (57, Mumbai) Ruchi Aggarwal (56, Mumbai) Radha Aggarwal (79, Uttar Pradesh) Vedavati Kumari (48, Andhra Pradesh) Pilot: Captain Robin Singh (60, Gujarat) One survivor, Bhaskar (51, Andhra Pradesh), sustained serious injuries, including multiple fractures and blood loss, and was airlifted to Hospital for treatment. The chartered Bell 407 helicopter (VT-OXF) operated by Aero Trans Services Pvt Ltd from Ahmedabad was carrying six passengers and a pilot on a Char Dham pilgrimage route, flying from Dehradun to the Harsil helipad, with plans to continue by road to Gangnani, approximately 30 km away. The helicopter crashed shortly after takeoff, with initial reports indicating it broke apart mid-air. Eyewitness accounts noted smoke and parts detaching before it plummeted. Preliminary reports suggest no immediate indication of mechanical failure, but the investigation is ongoing to determine whether pilot error, maintenance issues, or external factors contributed. |

Stay away from tourist helicopter trips. Good friend of mine died in one of these in Hawaii. To add tragedy to tragedy, they hit the side of a mountain and it took several days to reach them to recover the bodies, or what was left of them after the animals got to them. There is no way proper maintenance occurs when they do multiple trips in a day. They gas up and go. |
