Re: Heavy Bleeding Man After Losing His Right Arm on the Hood of a Car
looks like the arm was cut right up to the armpit. how do one apply tourniquet in that predicament. it would be a valued knowledge for us who doesnt know much about first aid application. thanks.

Re: Heavy Bleeding Man After Losing His Right Arm on the Hood of a Car
just seen the last part of the vid. i saw there's a few inches left to put the tourniquet on. But the question still stands. if its cut right to the armpit, how can the tourniquet be applied? or the best way to stem the flow of blood at least.

Yammering do-nothing useless chattering macaws. They could at least take a shirt off and use it as a bandage to apply as much pressure as possible to the wound. |

Re: Heavy Bleeding Man After Losing His Right Arm on the Hood of a Car
It's not too difficult if you know basic anatomy, really. All you would need to do is pinch off the brachial artery to staunch the flow of blood. Many everyday items can be used for this-a bobby pin, an alligator clip, anything that squeezes tightly together. You can even use your fingers to pinch it shut long enough to reach the hospital. In a do-or-die situation, you can burn the end shut. Zippos and torch lighters are great for this. See diagram. Hope this helps :) |

You tie a cloth in a loop and lasso around the arm then use a stick or something similar and twist it tight...or simply take your fingers and pinch the mains to slow the bleeding.

They were asking for a bucket of ice so the arm doesnt die. One thing is reattaching a severed finger, but an entire arm?
