Many languages do not differentiate gender pronouns when speaking of others. From ASL to Thai to Turkish, other people are all just referred to as the same pronoun. Some languages only differentiate the first person pronoun “I” as being male or female. That’s why articles like this are sometimes translated inaccurately, because “his” and “her” is more often than not the exact same word. People are able to determine gender by context or common sense, as you were able to with the mother in this story. I will say the title was confusing though. I thought he killed his mother and then tossed his own head out the window. Wouldn’t that have been something. |
