What's the story with the manic, bloody dude who jumped and fell a story or two, then convulsed and was 'helped' by that other dude? Anyone know anything?

I remember watching the news when the guy on the freeway blew his head off. News helicopters caught the whole thing, and the local tv stations (in LA) took heat for showing it. The sad thing about the entire incident is that he set his truck on fire and left his dog in the car to burn to death.
He didn't mean to start the fire when he did, and in doing so burned his hands. He jumped out of the truck and slammed the door behind him, leaving the dog inside. He stammered around a bit before blowing his head off.

I was there that day the guy at 1:35 killed himself. My cousin and I were driving. I was going to go visit a girl and we were wondering WTF was going on. We could see that portion of the fwy he was on (was transition to another fwy if I'm not mistaken). We had NO clue what was transpiring. It was later that we saw it on the news. Crazy stuff!
