(See George Orwell, "1984", for a compelling take on managing mass consciousness). Nothing like hanging the conquered head of state, be he good, bad, or indifferent. What am I saying?! They only hang 'em (or shoot 'em or crucify 'em) when they're bad (or evil). Unless, that is, we are talking about the period before the rule of the vox populi. In THAT case, it didn't matter two shits whether the vanquished leader was a god or a demon to HIS people, now did it? You know it's true!
