Guy That Wanted to Kill the Mayor Shot Dead by Guard After Fight in City Hall

Brazil, Images from the video surveillance system of the Old Town City Hall shows the moment a 28-year-old computer technician broke into the building on Friday morning (23), and was fatally shot in the head by a security guard.

He told the guard he wanted to kill the Mayor, Rodney Miranda, of Vila Velha.

The video shows him kicking the turnstile to enter the building. The guard goes after him and talks to the young man trying to convince him to leave the place, but he continues walking towards the mayor's office.

When he reaches the third floor, the man begins to attack the guard with kicks and punches. The man continues with his aggressive behaviour and tries to take the weapon of the guard.

Then the guard turns the gun and points it at the man's head and pulls the trigger. The attacker falls down and died on the spot.

His body was lying 15 meters away from the mayor's office.
Rodney Miranda was not there at the time of the invasion and defended the shooting, saying it was self-defense.

A police investigation was opened into the case. "The investigation will tell if there was a psychotic break, if there was drug use." Police said that the attacker already had two convictions for drug trafficking.

According to the Military Police, the man entered the hall bewildered at around 7:30 holding a Bible in his hand, shouting he would kill the mayor.

His family were outside the town hall and despaired to learn that the boy had died. "He was very upset, very nervous," said his sister.

He took drugs, according to the family. The brother said that recently, he went into a bar and started to use anabolic steroids.
