One of the worst things you can try to do is extricate a person in a partial crush injury. Why? The pressure, though being a problem for breathing, is also preventing bleeding in other parts of the body. Try to pull him out before the medics get there and establish an IV line to put shock-rate fluids in, and what happens is, blood rushes out, guy dies. Better to just let him lie there and bitch about his broken arm and how bad his knees look up close.
