The reason behind people not getting involved is 2fold. 1. There's no real self defense rights, especially in relation to defending others. 2. There's a chance that, regardless of the outcome, either person or their families might lodge a formal dispute for payment in regards to injuries during any action taken during the intervention. The law is really fucky in China. That's why you see people run others over again and again until they're sure they're dead if they accidentally hit someone, because the person can sue for medical bills for life if they survive, meanwhile a death is a one time payment to the family of the deceased. I assume the same can apply, at least in theory, to someone intervening in a violent attack. |
