A man was arrested after a 20-year woman was brutally killed in India. The victim was identified as R.S, who was studying B.Tech at a private college.

At about 10.30 AM she went to a tiffin centre. An unidentified man asked her to sit on his bike.

When she refused, he stabbed her in the neck and abdomen and fled. Locals rushed the bleeding girl to the Government Hospital and the doctors announced her death.

The Superintendent of Police, G.U, examined the body at the spot of the offence, and said the victim had stab wounds in six places; in her throat and abdomen. He said police were investigating the reasons behind the incident. Later, police said the accused is detained by police.

He said that the suspect was identified based on information provided by locals and CCTV footage.

According to sources, police arrested a person named S. K. in the case.

The police investigation has revealed that he got into an argument with her for eight minutes before the murder and actually was her Instagram friend.

Chief Minister JMR announced Rs 10 lakh compensation to the deceased’s family and asked officials to take stringent action on the accused under the ‘Disha’ act.

Addressing a press conference on the brutal murder of an engineering student on August 15, police said the accused had been harassing her prior to committing the crime.

Far from being able to predict the crime, the victim’s parents were not aware that she and him had developed a relationship through Instagram, however she chose to distance herself from him, so he started to harass and threaten her.

He lured the girl through Instagram. However, when she met him in person, things were different. It is pertinent to note that building relationships on social media has its innate risks, police told.
