I wonder what would have happened had there not been a recording..

A friend of mine went over to his wife's house (they were going through a divorce) to pick up his son. She was yelling at him and slapping him inside so he grabbed his son and left. She followed him outside and continued hitting him then she called the cops saying he was attacking her. While waiting for the PD to respond she started punching herself in the face.
Cops show up and arrest him and when they're about to haul him off a neighbor came out and told them what happened. She went to jail that night instead.
