people are saying they should have taken action, don't you see the guy died jumping why would they jump too so they might die like him? they should have had a guy on a boat nearby, but this was clearly not planned.
They didn't do anything, didn't even phone for help.

I almost pass out from doing a belly flop at 5 feet let alone 50. Looks like it was a loooooong time before they recovered his body. Brazilian cops are probably, like, "I'm sorry but our policy is to wait until the corpse washes ashore. It's so much easier that way and we don't risk the danger of one of our boys in blue catching pneumonia or something."
