Did the police attempt to recall the dog at all? I don't think I'd be able to comprehend and follow instructions while I have something trying to rip my arm off either The dog should have been recalled after he was down and surrounded. Half of those officers we're not even behind cover and lazily reacted to the call out so they obviously didn't feel like their life was in danger at that moment besides those 2 cops behind the car, one of which did even fire a shot.

Op's subject header made me lol. Why were they shooting while the K9 officer was so close though? Reminds me of a sad video I once saw where an armed black suspect was engaged in "negotiations" with officers when they suddenly released the police dog and for some fucked up reason, they all started firing their weapons, killing not only the suspect but the dog too. Well, at least here there was no tragic ending... except for the suspect.
